The Automated Technology Group designs, installs, maintains and upgrades power and control solutions for automation, and operates within all major sectors of engineering, delivering complex projects with a proven blend of creativity, confidence and control.
In September 2015 The Automated Technology Group was acquired by Wood Group, an international energy services company with more than $7 billion sales and operating in more than 50 countries. The company currently operates from 6 different locations in the UK and Slovakia:
Headquarters – Silsoe
35,000 sq ft premises feature state-of-the-art office space and 20,000 sq ft of modern manufacturing facilities for control panel production.
Technical Centre – Kings Norton
Technical operations, including virtual manufacturing services, as well as some sales and administration activities.
Service Centre – Stafford
Service operations, as well as some sales, operational and technical activities. Video conferencing facilities connect to other premises and customer sites.
Systems Division – Northampton
Closely linked to the robotics and simulation teams, and accommodates special purpose machinery design, building, testing and installation activities.
Cabinet Production – Bedford
Manufacturing facility for cabinets and other enclosures .
Support Centre – Bratislava, Slovakia
The Automated Technology Group’s first operation to be set up outside the UK. The facility currently focuses on staff recruitment and will be used as a base for engineers and project managers to support key projects in Slovakia and the surrounding countries.
The Automated Technology Group’s Apprenticeship programme provides a combination of on-the-job training and technical study, and Apprentices work towards nationally recognised qualifications and also acquire the skills, knowledge and confidence required for a successful career in engineering.
Supervised by a dedicated Academy Manager, the five-year scheme allows apprentices to gain experience in a variety of business functions, such as finance, human resources and marketing – as well as on-site work for prestigious customers. With some of the training tailored to the business needs of The Automated Technology Group and significant input from mentors within the company, apprentices are in an excellent position to continue their career within the group on completion of their course.
The Academy has been accredited by The Institution of Engineering and Technology, emphasising the programme’s high quality and linking the apprenticeship scheme to the requirements for registration as an Engineering Technician, Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer.
