Briggs Equipment is a specialist in asset management, with an in-house financing capability and it also offers short-term rental and engineering services.

The company has one of the largest mobile fleets of service engineers in the UK. Briggs Equipment helps thousands of companies to choose the correct forklift trucks, pallet trucks, reach trucks and all the other materials handling equipment needed to make a modern business work. With over 1,200 employees, Briggs manages its national service and commercial operations from its Staffordshire headquarters. The company also has 10 regional support facilities and 600 mobile engineers across the country.

Briggs Equipment also has a dedicated division for supporting the Defence sector. The Briggs Equipment Apprenticeship in Plant and Construction Maintenance provides detailed on-the-job training. In addition, candidates will complete 15 weeks block release training per year for the first 3 years at Stafford College. These two combined will give you the necessary skills to become a future Briggs Equipment engineer.

This 4 year Apprenticeship involves working on Mechanical/Electrical/Hydraulic Handling Equipment. You will carry out this work either at a customer’s premises or at one of Briggs workshop locations nationwide.

On completion of the apprenticeship framework you will be qualified to maintain, service and repair a variety of Mechanical Handling Equipment. Throughout the programme, you will receive support from the training department and a dedicated mentor.

Briggs Equipment Apprenticeship locations include: Cannock, Haydock, Maidenhead, Cumbernauld, Elgin, Leven, Northampton, Liverpool Docks, Carlisle, Sheffield/Doncaster, Avonmouth, Kent, and Essex.

Education Requirements for Briggs Equipment

The Education Requirements for a Briggs Equipment Apprenticeship are as follows:

  • 3 GCSEs at grade D or above in English and Science. Mathematics preferred but not essential

Candidates should also be able to demonstrate an enthusiasm for all things mechanical and electrical.
