Apprenticeships with Crossrail
There are a range of Crossrail Apprenticeship roles available in a number of different business roles. Crossrail Apprenticeship roles will include Human Resources, IT, Finance, Safety, Customer Experience, as well as Trainee Train Drivers.
MTR Crossrail is the rail operator for the newly-constructed Elizabeth Line which is due to be fully complete and operational by the end of December 2019.
MTR Crossrail expects to employ up to 1,000 new people, creating jobs for local people. While this will include almost 400 drivers, the company also plans to recruit over 200 apprenticeships. These Crossrail Apprenticeship programmes range between one and four years.
When Crossrail services are fully operational, they will increase rail based transport in the capital by 10 per cent. In addition to the Tube modernisation programme, Crossrail will make a valuable contribution to helping people move efficiently around London. Furthermore, Crossrail will set the benchmark for passenger experience on European metro services and achieve internationally recognised high standards of reliability, train frequency and customer service.
Crossrail will also be a fully integrated part of the Transport for London network. It will provide a fast, frequent service linking the east and west and relieving congestion on some of the busiest Tube lines. Furthermore, passengers using Crossrail will see reduced journey times and the new stations will be integrated with existing London Underground, DLR, London Overground and National Rail stations making it easy for passengers to change between services.
MTR Crossrail will deliver the following services across the Elizabeth Line once complete at the end of 2019:
- Excellence in customer service through 41 Elizabeth line stations
- 700 timetabled services per day
- A peak timetable frequency of 24 trains per hour
- An estimated 200 million annual passengers per year
- More than 11 million train service km per year
The Crossrail route will serve 40 stations and run 72 miles from Reading and Heathrow in the west. It will run underground through new twin-bore 13 mile long tunnels below central London to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east.
The route through Canary Wharf, the City and the West End will open in late 2018, while the full route will be fully operational from late 2019. Crossrail services will be introduced as follows:
- Heathrow to Paddington – May 2018
- Paddington to Abbey Wood – December 2018
