The Cummins Apprenticeship programme offers a number of apprenticeships across its UK locations. These include traditional engineering schemes as well as new, business focused programmes. The Cummins Apprenticeship programme operates in line with the requirements of each individual site in terms of type of roles and number of opportunities. Therefore, each site’s Human Resources team manages the recruitment process for the Cummins Apprenticeship roles available at each location.
Cummins engineers and manufactures light-duty, medium-duty, heavy-duty and high- horsepower diesel engines for on- and off-highway applications. The company is a global leader in the design, manufacture, distribution and servicing of multi-fuel engines and related technologies. Markets include truck, bus, rail, marine, prime and standby power generation and mining.

Darlington: The Darlington site recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. It produces around 40,000 diesel engines every year for key European, Middle East, African and Asian customers. Engines are designed for truck, bus, rail, defence, marine, construction, material handling and mining, as well as power generation applications. Furthermore, the Cummins engine range stretches from 4.5 to 8.9 litre cubic capacity.
The European Technical Centre, based on the Darlington site, has played a significant role in driving key product improvements since the 1980s. It has pushed emissions to the near-zero levels of Euro 6 for Cummins powered trucks and buses.
Daventry: The Daventry manufacturing site is responsible for the smooth introduction of new engine and Gen Set models into production. It also produces current and new variants of V12, V16 & V18 diesel and gas engines up to 3500hp. These are used in mining, industrial, loco, marine and also power generation applications.

The Cummins Work Experience programme gives students aged 14-19 years old the opportunity to understand what it is like to work in a diverse global engineering business. Students also have the opportunity to explore potential career paths with Cummins Turbo Technologies.
Furthermore, the week long Work Experience placement supports the company’s desire to build a young talent pool for future opportunities within Cummins Turbo Technologies.
Since its launch in October 2014, more than 60 young people have taken part in the Cummins Work Experience programme.
