DECA is a trusted Ministry of Defence (MOD) and industry partner providing benchmark support services for aviation and defence requirements. It is the principal in-house government organisation dedicated to maintenance, repair, overhaul, upgrade and procurement in the defence avionics, electronics and components field.
DECA currently has an annual turnover of circa £25 million. The organisation employs more than 450 staff across its Sealand Head Office and Main Operating Centre in North Wales. It also has a site in Stafford and various deployed locations across the UK.
The Agency is part of the UK MOD and support UK Armed Forces by providing expert electronic, optronic, avionic, cryptographic and general engineering repair, maintenance, overhaul and upgrade services to MOD and industry partners. As MOD civil servants, DECA staff can also deploy overseas in direct support of UK military operations.
DECA has exceptional facilities that include purpose built electronic workshops, fuel pump test facilities and accredited calibration laboratories. It also has class 4 Tempest cleared cryptographic maintenance and storage facilities. Roles Available with Defence Electronics and Components Agency
In 2018, the Defence Electronics and Components Agency Apprenticeship programme had the following roles available:
In Year 1, candidates attend college full time. They work towards a Foundation Engineering Apprenticeship and a NVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations.
The Year 2 programme is based at DECA with college day release. Candidates work towards a BTEC National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
While in Year 3, candidates are based full time at DECA, working towards a NVQ Level 3 in Engineering based on specific trade requirement of apprentice.

Education Requirements for Defence Electronics and Components Agency
