Apprenticeships with Mercedes Benz
The Mercedes Benz Apprenticeship programme offers roles in the Service Centres of the UK Dealer Network. This includes the Bus & Truck dealer network, as well as the Car dealer network. In fact, Mercedes Benz is one of the few brands which also offers roles with Bus & Trucks (i.e. over 3.5 tonnes).
Mercedes Benz has around 3,500 staff at its UK head office in Milton Keynes. It also owns and operates several retail dealer sites across London, Birmingham and Manchester. There is also a commercial vehicle centre at Wentworth Park near Sheffield. A range of smaller offices around the UK support the fleet and Bus & Truck sales.
The Mercedes Benz dealer network employs more than 11,000 members of staff. This is where most of the Mercedes Benz Apprenticeship roles are on offer. In fact, more than 70% of apprentices are still in the dealer network after 10 years.
Ofsted have rated the Mercedes Benz Apprenticeship scheme as “Outstanding”. It has a 96% pass rate. The graduation ceremony for the Mercedes Benz Apprenticeship scheme takes place at Mercedes Benz World at Brooklands, Surrey. Winners of the “Apprentice of the Year” award will also have work experience with the Mercedes AMG F1 team!
Mercedes Benz Apprenticeship
Mercedes Benz has taken on more than 1,500 apprentices since 1995. In fact, recruitment is increasing by 30% each year. This means there are lots of roles on offer across the brand’s dealer network. Mercedes Benz has also invested more than £3 million in a dedicated Apprentice Academy at the company’s HQ in Tongwell, Milton Keynes.
A Mercedes Benz Apprenticeship can take up to 3 years to complete. During this time, you will be employed full-time at a Mercedes Benz dealer near you. The dealer will provide most of the training in the workshop. However, you will also need to complete 20 or 25 one-week blocks of classroom and workshop training at the Mercedes Benz Apprentice Academy.
If you want to find out more about whether a Mercedes Benz Apprenticeship is right for you, then you could ask a local dealer for work experience. This gives you the chance to see what it is like to work in a Mercedes Benz Service Centre. It also gives the dealer the chance to see if you would fit in to the team. This could improve your chances if you apply for a Mercedes Benz Apprenticeship in the future.
