Apprenticeships with Midland Metro

There are a range of Midland Metro Apprenticeship roles available in various departments across the Midland Metro Alliance. This is a team of planning, design and construction specialists building 5 new tram extensions across the West Midlands.

The Midland Metro Alliance recruits primarily from the local area and seeks to create career opportunities on its doorstep. Apprentices are employed with one of the nine partner companies that make up the Midland Metro Alliance.

These include the West Midland Combined Authority – which owns the Midland Metro, a consortium of design experts from Egis, Tony Gee and Pell Frischmann, and construction specialists Colas Rail. The Alliance also includes Colas Rail’s sub-alliance partners: Colas Ltd, Barhale, Bouygues UK and Auctus Management Group.

Apprentice Administrator

To work as directed by the Midland Metro Alliance to support all areas of the business, but specifically within Business Support Team. The post holder will also be responsible for timely delivery of all tasks and to ensure these are delivered within the agreed format.

Providing a main reception service, meeting and greeting visitors to any of the Alliance partners, answering the telephone and putting calls through to the appropriate person/department whilst communicating accurate messages. In addition, maintaining a welcoming office environment through maintaining displays, notice boards and all facilities supplies and tidying meeting rooms ensuring they are ready for use.

Commercial Apprentice

The finance and commercial team provide the commercial and finance functions to support Alliance. This includes finance, commercial, contract & legal matters and budget control and reporting. The Commercial Apprentice will provide cost administration activities to support projects and the commercial team within the Alliance.

The company aims to develop individuals for the longer term project stream, essentially to support the quantity surveying function. Therefore, Midland Metro Alliance welcomes applicants with an interest in this area or those who are looking for their first career challenge in this sector.

The company also welcomes applications from school leavers or graduates, as full training and development will be provided with the role.

This will involve working at Midland Metro’s Birmingham City Centre Office, working initially on the Centenary Square extension project.
