Apprenticeships with Nissan
Nissan offers a range of Nissan Apprenticeship roles at the factory in Sunderland. There are also Nissan Apprenticeship roles on offer with Nissan Dealers across the UK.
Nissan has invested more than £4bn in the Sunderland factory, where it employs more than 6,700 staff. As a result, it is one of the most efficient car plants in Europe.
The plant has a Press Shop which can stamp 2.5 million panels for the body sides of cars. After the body sides are welded together in the Body Shop, the car moves to the Paint Shop, then to the Trim & Chassis Final Assembly area. The plant casts and assembles petrol engines, and it also makes plastic bumpers and lithium-ion batteries.
Nissan’s Sunderland plant makes the Nissan Qashqai and Nissan LEAF, as well as the Infiniti Q30. Most of these are for export to both EU and international markets.
Most of the Nissan Apprenticeship roles at the Nissan plant take 2 or 3 years to complete. However, some roles such as Maintenance Technician can take 5 years to complete. This is a very important role, because it is responsible for maintaining the robots and other machinery in the factory. This is essential for the smooth running of the production line.
The Nissan plant in Sunderland also has a wide range of other Nissan Apprenticeship roles on offer. These can include IT, CAD, Admin, and many more.
Some Nissan Apprenticeship roles are based at the Nissan Technical Centre in Cranfield. In 2017, the company advertised for a “Design and Development Apprentice”. This role works with the Vehicle Test Engineers, creating the Nissans of the future.
There are also a range of Nissan Apprenticeship roles on offer with the Nissan Dealer Network. These can take up to 3 years to complete, and you will work at a local Nissan dealer throughout the training period.
