Premier Group offers a range of Apprenticeships specialising in sheet metal work at its Coventry site. The company was established in 1992 and has since grown to become the market leader in the bespoke manufacturing of low series production panels, assemblies and prototypes.

With 140,000 square feet of facilities and a HQ in Coventry, Premier Group employs over 240 personnel developing a business that offers a full turnkey operation to the Automotive, Rail, Aerospace and Military sectors, with a client base ranging from Morgan Motor Company, Bentley Motors, Jaguar Land Rover & The Ford Motor Company to Alstom, GKN, and Bombardier.

Premier Group offers a full ‘turn key’ manufacturing capability, with cutting-edge design, development, prototyping, manufacturing and logistics support, with the very latest in CAD design, CAE virtual development and CAM manufacturing, all of which contributes to significantly reduced lead-times and on-time delivery.

Sheet Metal Work
The Sheet Metal Division is the original ‘roots’ of Premier Group. Specialising in sheet metal work, the highly skilled work force are experts in prototype manufacture, press tool design, polystyrene patterns, press tool manufacture, press shop (up to 680 ton) and 5-axis laser. Premier Group Manufacturing specialises in low-to-medium volume manufacture, supporting the manufacturing community with a unique flexible design engineering. The company employs a highly-skilled sheet metal workforce, utilising a state-of-the-art assembly facility, 2-axis and 5-axis lasers and brakes presses. Services offered include:

Niche Vehicle Production
Premier Group are experts in prototype and low volume vehicle production – from initial concept visualisation, design and advanced engineering to manufacturing, integrity testing, powertrain performance and trim & final assembly. The company can offer the following services for Niche Vehicle Production:

Tailored Design: Premier Group’s tailored design studio not only specialises in CATIA, but also offers a 3D visualisation suite and clay modelling capabilities.

Advanced Engineering: Disciplines include vehicle packaging validation, component design, manufacturing feasibility via press simulation, design and manufacture of press tools, CNC programming and Polystyrene pattern manufacture, as well as rapid prototypes via 3D printing for small component validation and scaled mock up.

Manufacturing: Flexible manufacturing systems enable Premier Group to use the appropriate technology to provide bespoke quality, robust, effective solutions to suit the individual project.

Integrity Testing: Test programmes are designed and managed to support the vehicle’s specific requirements to meet legislation or unique customer’s requirements.

Powertrain Performance: Premier Group’s partners are world renowned for delivering performance with elegance to suit any environment for street, boulevard or off road.

Trim and Final Assembly: Dedicated vehicle assembly technicians deliver quality at every turn, paying special attention to the feel and appearance of every detail ensuring the finished product exceeds customer’s expectations.

The company currently has 28 apprentices are currently on its apprenticeship programme, which is considered crucial to the continued growth and long-term development of the company.

During the four-year programme, candidates are supported by assessors from various local training providers, such as The Midland Group Training Services, Henley College, Coventry University, Warwick University and Coventry & Warwickshire Training.
