Apprenticeships with Rushlift
There are a number of Rushlift Apprenticeship roles as a Forklift Service Engineer at one of the company’s depots nationwide.
Rushlift is the UK’s leading independent service and fleet management company, and now part of the Doosan corporation from Korea. The company has several years experience in the hire and maintenance of all types of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic equipment. However, Rushlift recently expanded into aviation ground support equipment, after it acquired the American Airlines maintenance facility at London Heathrow.
Rushlift GSE now offers long term rental of a wide range of aviation ground support equipment at several UK airports. The company’s philosophy of high service levels and customer support neatly fits the needs of the GSE industry where safety and on time departure of aircraft is paramount.
The company recently increased the capacity of the UK Parts Distribution Centre by 50%. This allows the company to carry more than £1m of stock for next day deliveries, ensuring all Doosan customers get the best possible support from within the UK. The company has also increased the range of parts it can supply, such as forks, lubricants, LED lights and many other items. This means Rushlift is truly a one-stop-shop for all of the brand’s dealers and customers.
The increased capacity at the UK Parts Distribution Centre also includes a newly-created centre of excellence for engineer training. The building houses a purpose built classroom and two workshop areas to carry out hands-on training for new and existing engineers.
The Rushlift Apprenticeship Scheme trains new starters through to engineer level. The comprehensive training programme allows the apprentices to become competent not only on engine vehicles, but also electrical powered vehicles and electronic componentry.
In addition to working in the company’s workshops, apprentices also get the opportunity to work on customer premises. Furthermore, once qualified, Apprentices will move in to the mobile engineer workforce operating under their own initiative.
Apprentices are mentored by an experienced engineer, and the programme is overseen by both NVQ Assessors and Rushlift’s own Technical Training Manager.
Rushlift’s multi-marque capability, as well as the wide range of mechanical equipment it hires and services, means apprentices aquire a variety of skills not usually associated with forklift engineers.
