Zytek has over 150 highly-experienced staff, including design & development engineers, programme managers, administration support and technicians, in addition to a Chassis and Safety team with more than 20 engineers.
The company specialises in the design & manufacture of 3 phase, electric drive systems. Drive systems are currently permanent magnet, synchronous technology, as these offer unrivalled torque density and power capability combined with high efficiency. Inverter technology is all developed in house, from mechanical engineering, hardware design, controls technology and software.
In the Motor Sport arena, Zytek offers a range of electronics, electronic gearshift systems and hybrid systems. These are the result of the company’s more than 25 years experience in Energy Recovery Systems. The company also designed and manufactures an unique Electronic Gearshift System (EGS) which is the only high-level advanced gearshift system which is purely electro-mechanical. Most commercially available automatic and semi-automatic gearshift systems used in motor racing applications are based on either hydraulic or pneumatic power sources.
The Zytek EGS has been specifically developed to avoid the installation complexity, maintenance requirements, and weight associated with pneumatics or hydraulics. The EGS is capable of individual gearshifts in 25 milliseconds, and up to 5 downshifts in less than a second. Additionally, the precise control of the electric actuators results in very little wear on the gear selector mechanism and dog rings, which extends gearbox life, improves reliability and shift accuracy.
In addition to the Zytek Apprenticeship roles summarised below, Zytek also offers a range of Graduate Jobs across several departments, including Engineering, Finance and IT:
