BA Apprenticeships: Operations
Aircraft Maintenance – 3 years
This apprenticeship is your starting point to becoming a qualified Aircraft Engineer – a highly-skilled and respected profession. You will also hone your hands-on skills by working on the country’s largest, most modern and varied fleet. Guided by experienced colleagues, you’ll learn, earn and gain what could be the first of many qualifications on your engineering career journey.
Heathrow Operations – 15 months
If you’ve ever travelled through Heathrow, you’ll know that it’s like a small city – fast-moving and diverse, with thousands of people always on the move. This apprenticeship is your chance to learn and earn in a hands-on role behind the scenes. You will also get to grips with the operational tasks that keep everything running smoothly for customers – providing a great introduction to an aviation career.
IAG Cargo Operations – 18 months
IAG Cargo is the partner business to British Airways that transports an incredible range of items all over the world – everything from fresh fruit to endangered species, as well as life-saving drugs. This apprenticeship is the ideal entry into the fast-paced world of cargo, leading to an NVQ Level 2 award.

BA Apprenticeships: Customer Service

Working in shifts in Customer Service at Heathrow, you’ll take on duties across the team. This could be in any area such as Check-in and Connections, as well as Arrivals and Premium areas. Your helpful, welcoming personality will equip you to meet, greet, deal with queries and be a true ambassador for our brand.

BA Apprenticeships: Corporate and Support Functions
Corporate and Support Functions – 2 years
Fancy seeing behind the scenes of our business? Come and find out how a major airline operates, and what makes change and success happen. On a series of rotations over two years, you will spend time in a range of different head office roles. You can also expect to gain a wide variety of experience while developing all-round skills.
IAG Revenue Management – 2 years
This apprenticeship will equip you with strong planning, commercial and analytical skills – providing an excellent start to a career in logistics. Working towards a Level 4 qualification, you’ll be earning and learning with a global leader in the industry – IAG Cargo is the partner business to British Airways that transports and incredibly variety of items around the world.
Project Management – 2.5 years
These are exciting times at British Airways. We’re making a massive investment in our fleet and customer experience, which also means change is an ongoing process. With so many key projects in progress or in the pipeline, this apprenticeship is a great opportunity. Learning, earning and gaining a Level 4 qualification will be a brilliant foundation for a project management career.

BA Apprenticeships: what grades do I need?
The specific grades needed to apply for a place on the BA Apprenticeships scheme will vary for each role. For example:
- Aircraft Maintenance: please refer to the BA Apprenticeships website for current grades required.
- Heathrow Operations: 3 GCSEs including English and Maths.
- IAG Cargo Operations: at least 2 GCSEs in English and Maths.
- Customer Service: 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths.
- Corporate and Support Functions: 2 A-Level passes, as well as 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths.
- IAG Revenue Management: 2 A-Level passes, as well as 5 GCSEs, including English and Maths.
