There are a wide range of WSP Apprenticeship roles available across many of the company’s 40 UK locations. WSP Apprenticeship roles are available either as a School Leaver Apprenticeship for candidates with GCSEs, or a Degree Apprenticeship for those with A-Levels. The company has technical experts and strategic advisors including engineers, technicians, scientists, architects, planners, surveyors and environmental specialists, as well as other design, programme and construction management professionals.

Aggregate Industries

The Aggregate Industries Apprenticeship programme includes roles in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Plant Maintenance Operations, as well as Business Administration, Finance, IT, Quantity Surveyor, and many others. Aggregate Industries is at the frontline of the construction and infrastructure industries, producing and supplying an array of construction materials. Hanson is one of the leading suppliers of heavy building materials in the UK. Its products appear in major infrastructure projects, including the construction of roads, bridges, tunnels, windfarms and commercial schemes, as well as to build homes, schools and hospitals. The company operates around 300 manufacturing sites and employs over 3,500 people in the UK. This includes production workers, plant operators, technicians, drivers, sales, IT, engineering and finance managers.


The Tarmac Apprenticeship programme includes roles are in Business, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, as well as many more roles all across the business. Tarmac has nearly 7,000 employees working at more than 400 strategically located sites all across the UK. These include 120 quarries, 74 asphalt plants, 100 Readymix concrete plants, 22 contracting offices, as well as 2 cement and lime plants.


Civil Engineering Apprenticeships – Rail:


There are a wide range of Costain Apprenticeship roles available in many different departments and locations across the UK. Costain Apprenticeship roles are available in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business Administration as well as many more. In March 2018, Costain advertised for a wide variety of Apprenticeships in Berkshire, Kent, Gloucestershire, London, Manchester, Middlesex, Northamptonshire, and the West Midlands. The main intakes for the Apprentices are during the summer months for a start at college in September.


There are several Murphy Apprenticeship roles available in a variety of disciplines at locations all across the UK. J Murphy & Sons Limited is a leading global, multi-disciplined engineering and construction company founded in 1951. Murphy’s headquarters are in London, but the company has operations all across the UK, as well as Ireland and Canada. It provides a range of construction services to infrastructure sectors including rail, water, power and natural resources. The company directly employs more than 3,000 engineers, professionals and skilled operatives around the world. As a result, it has skilled expertise in delivering pipelines, process engineering, design, marine, tunnelling, fabrication, bridges and piling.

The Skanska Apprenticeship programme includes roles in various functions within Engineering, Operations and Business Support. Skanska, established in 1887, is one of the world’s leading project development and construction groups. The UK operation is one of the country’s top contractors, with more than 6,000 employees. The Skanska Apprenticeship programme opens for applications in February each year, with a closing date at the end of March. However, the company also has a number of immediate start positions available throughout the year.

There are a wide range of Foreign and Commonwealth Office Apprenticeship roles available in a variety of departments and locations, including either Security & Property, Technology Services, or Business Services. If you’ve got a keen interest in design and construction, an Apprenticeship in Building Services Engineering is where you can use them to help keep the nation safe.
