Graduate Jobs with Volkswagen
There are a range of Volkswagen Graduate Jobs across several areas of the business at its Head Office in Milton Keynes.
The VW brand first appeared in the UK in 1952, when the first two VW Beetles were sold. It was only 1 year later that Volkswagen Motors Ltd became the official importer for the brand in the UK. Volkswagen UK is part of the Volkswagen Group, one of the country’s largest importers of vehicles. The company employs around 600 people nationwide, including 180 in Milton Keynes alone. The brand’s Head Office controls sourcing, marketing and distribution of all vehicles and parts in the UK.
Volkswagen has two plants in North Germany. The primary one is at Wolfsburg, which is also the site of the Headquarters of the Volkswagen Group. The Wolfsburg plant is 5 sq kms and is one of the largest and most advanced car factories in the world. Wolfsburg also has the largest state-of-the-art paint shop in Europe, and it was the first to use eco-friendly water-based paints. The press shop at Wolfsburg processes 1,500 metric tonnes of sheet metal every day, with the sheet metal cut and pre-stamped into special plates, then fully galvanised.
The body shop features a number of new, more flexible technologies so the plant can react faster to different demands. It can also build different models right after one another on the same line with no major modifications or delay. Other facilities at the Wolfsburg plant include the paint shop and the final assembly line. This is where rigorous measurements, final adjustments and performance tests are carried out to ensure the quality that customers expect. Customers can visit the factory in Wolfsburg on a 2 hour tour from Tuesday to Friday.
Volkswagen’s other plant in Germany is in Dresden. Here, employees wearing white gloves assemble the Touareg luxury SUV in a glass factory called The Transparent Factory.
The brand also has a “theme park” called Autostadt in Wolfsburg which opened in 2000 after a £270m investment. Autostadt is a 250,000sq m complex which features lakes and parks, marketplaces and streets and even its own train station, as well as various types of entertainment, world restaurants, and a unique events centre. Each year, 1.2m visitors from all over the world visit the Autostadt to study the technology behind Volkswagen’s legendary reliability and to learn about its vision for the future.
The Marque Pavilions showcase the many faces of Volkswagen: famous brands like Audi, SEAT, SKODA, Lamborghini and Bentley, each displayed in its individual setting, while in the Volkswagen Automuseum you can admire vintage Volkswagens and other landmark models and learn about the history of motorcars.
In addition to the Volkswagen Graduate Jobs summarised here, the brand also offers Graduate Jobs with Volkswagen Financial Services, and Apprenticeships in partnership with the Volkswagen Dealer Network:
