There are a wide range of Marine Apprenticeships working on boats at boat yards all across the UK. The Marine industry is one of the largest employers in the country. As well as headline brand names such as BAE Systems and the Royal Navy, Marine Apprenticeships can also be found across the supply chain.

Marine Apprenticeships: Berthon

There are a wide range or Marine Apprenticeships with Berthon Boats at their base in Hampshire. It takes 4 years to complete the training with Berthon Boats. Training is provided both on the job and at nearby Brockenhurst College.

Berthon is a family business which has been trading for more than 100 years. As well as a full service boat yard with 280 deep water berths, Berthon also offers Yacht Sales and Brokerage, new boat design and build, refit and renovation, and general marine servicing.

The company can build, refit and maintain boats of all sizes. It also provides service support for clients such as the RNLI, Ministry of Defence, UK Border Force, Port Authorities and a range of commercial boat operators.

There are a wide range of Marine Apprenticeships on offer at Griffon Hoverwork in Southampton. Griffon Hoverwork has been making and operating hovercraft since they first started taking to the water more than 50 years ago. Their hovercraft can be found in more than 40 countries around the world. They operate in the humid jungles of South America to the dry heat of the Middle East and to the frozen ice fields of the Arctic.

Marine Apprenticeships – RNLI:

There are a range of Marine Apprenticeships on offer at many lifeboat stations all around the UK and Ireland. RNLI lifeboat crews protect hundreds of coastal communities around the UK and Ireland, with a 24-hour search and rescue service. To do so, they rely on the safest, most reliable lifeboats and modern stations from which to launch. There are over 350 lifeboats in the RNLI fleet based at more than 230 lifeboat stations around the UK and Ireland.

These include four along the River Thames: Chiswick, Gravesend, Teddington, and Tower Bridge. The RNLI also has four inland lifeboat stations at Enniskillen, Loch Ness, Lough Derg, and Lough Ree, as well as trial stations at Stonehaven and Union Hall. Between them, RNLI lifeboats cover 19,000 miles of coastline and some busy inland stretches of water.

There are a wide range of Sunseeker Apprenticeships on offer at either the Poole or Portland boat yards on the South Coast of England.

Sunseeker employs more than 2,000 highly skilled designers, engineers and master craftsmen. It also has a network of over 80 retail and service depots all around the world. Sunseeker exports in excess of 140 yachts each year to more than 45 countries.
