Bournemouth Aviation Museum

The aim of the Bournemouth Aviation Museum is to provide an interesting and informative visit for people of all ages, as well as to share the enjoyment of the exciting world of aviation.

The museum is a truly hands-on experience, with interactive exhibits which include several aircraft cockpits available to sit inside. These include the famous English Electric Lightning and the mighty Westland Wessex Helicopter.

The museum aims to have as many exhibits available to sit in as possible, because children of all ages love the hands on experience. Furthermore, the recent arrival of the Boeing 737 will enable the museum to host children’s parties once again.

Some of the other exhibits at the Bournemouth Aviation Museum include a Vulcan Bomber still with its original cockpit and a Gloster Meteor which was the first jet to enter service with the RAF in July 1944.

The museum also has a Jaguar GR1 from the 1970s, a de Havillan Vampire from the 1950s, and a Boeing 737-200 also from the 1970s.

Originally established in May 1998 as the Jet Heritage Museum, Bournemouth Aviation Museum also has the advantage of being on the same site as Adventure Wonderland – which is rated as Dorset’s No 1 tourist attraction.

Summer – open daily – 10am to 5pm
Winter (Oct 29th 2017 until March 25th 2018) – open daily – 10am to 4pm (last entry 3pm).

Closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day. Open on New Years Day.

Additional Information

A new Yellow Buses route 14 with a stop at the museum started on October 30th from central Bournemouth passing through Winton, Moordown, Northbourne and West Parley.
