Arkwright Scholarships

There are a range of generous Arkwright Scholarships available for students studying in Engineering, at both A-Level and Undergraduate level. Scholarships are available to any students who attend a school affiliated to the Arkwright Engineering Scholarships programme. Ask your teacher to complete the school affiliation form if your school is not yet affiliated. Affiliation is quick, simple and FREE.
After submitting your online application, you will sit the Arkwright aptitude exam in your school. Students who are successful in the exam will be interviewed and then matched to an available Scholarship.
Arkwright Scholarships inspire and nurture future leaders in Engineering, Computing and technical (as opposed to aesthetic) Design. Scholarship sponsors include a wide range of organisations, such as an industrial company, university, charitable trust, trade association, professional institution, armed service, worshipful company, industry regulator or personal donor. The Scholarships are awarded to high-calibre 16 year old students through a rigorous selection process, supporting students through their A levels or equivalent qualifications.
The Scholarship offers support in various different ways. For example, valuable hands-on work experience, support for your curriculum project and a personal mentor who can help you with aspects of your studies and career planning.
In order to be eligible to apply, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- You must have a strong desire to have a future career as a leader within the Engineering Profession (which includes computing and technical aspects of design)
- When you apply, you must be in the school year in which you will sit your GCSEs, Scottish National 5s, International Baccalaureate Standards, BTEC level 2s or equivalent exams
- You must intend to stay at school or sixth form college for two years to study A levels, BTEC level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma, Scottish Highers / Advanced Highers or the International Baccalaureate higher level
- You must be planning to study Maths to A level, Scottish Higher level or International Baccalaureate higher level

Arkwright Undergraduate Scholarships
The Arkwright Scholarships for Undergraduates offers the following awards:

- £12,000 for students applying to The University of Cambridge
The Eranda Rothschild Foundation:
- £12,000 for students applying to any university.

The Arkwright Scholarship for A-Level students offers the following benefits:
- £600 personal financial award
- £400 school financial award
- Personal development and support from your Sponsor
- Industry-based engineering experience days and University-based VIP Receptions
- Early notification of national competitions, and an opportunity to network with like-minded students
